Why don’t you stop insulting every atheist who makes a cool, level-headed argument and start actually providing evidence. Do not tell me to look inside my soul.

I want cold, hard, and physical evidence, so no visions. If Jesus was born in the Middle East, he would be black or have a Middle-Eastern tan, yet Christianity portrays him as white. God does not exist in my beliefs. I am not saying that a god could not exist, rather I am saying that I do not believe that a god exists. Your religion states that humans were created from dirt about 6000 years ago.

Yeah right. We have fossils dating back 450 million years. I’m pretty sure that 450 million is larger than 6000. Where was your false messiah (aka Jesus) during the Black Plague? Where was he during 9/11? He certainly wasn’t with you and he never will be, because he does not exist. If he does, what created him?

Everything has a beginning and everything has an end. Do not tell me to look inside, or that we are the weak ones.

I know that this will not deter you from torturing, maiming, killing, or raping atheists in the future. You are just another one of those extremist Christians who thinks that any other way of life is evil and is seeking to destroy society.

Stereotypes are when you take the qualities of a single individual or group of a particular race, gender, religion, or other such thing and apply them to the whole race (or whatever it happens to be).

Whilst I admire Barack Obama’s charisma and his openness about his faith, I can’t help but feel something is not right about America. We need someone who is gonna lead by example in these hard times and I truly believe that Sarah Palin is the person to turn America into Christian America once more.

We like to think there is a natural relationship between the words we use and the world around us, and superficially there is when words are representative of specific persons, places, and things with which we have intimate contact (e.g., my face, my house, my child, my car).

Beyond this knowing interaction, most representational words are abstract and generic (e.g., tree, dog, car, lake) while non-representational words are nothing more than mental proxies for multi-worded definitions (e.g., God, Heaven, Hell, Sin, Soul, Afterlife, Truth, Evil, Fact). Non-representational words have no references or agents in the ‘real world’ so can only derive their meaning by calling upon other words, a completely made-up and arbitrary process, and wholly subjective.

While I can point to a “tree” in the real world and I can point to a ” rock” in the real world, or a dog, or a fire, or an atom in an electron microscope, the only place I’m able to point to “God” or “Heaven” or the “Soul” are…where? Only as words in books, because ideas like God or Heaven or Soul exist by definition alone and are not based on anything measurable or falsifiable. They rely on subsets of other abstract definitions in order to be ‘known’ and cannot be known outside these definitions.

Religious ideas, supernatural ideas, mystical and occult ideas exist by way of definition alone and vanish in the absence of language. Trees and rivers and rocks don’t disappear in silence, but gods and ghosts and demons do (only to re-appear again whenever mouths or books are opened) and so much more than these. Even history, literature, philosophy, science, and politics will all melt away when language is removed.

Where is Plato outside the book? Where is Jesus? Muhammad? Postmodernism? Critical theory? Culture needs language to operate, so what does this ‘mean’ about culture if language is artificial? What does this ‘mean’ about us and the way we live our lives (or is it the other way around)?

When a person claims that ‘God is all-powerful or ‘God is all-knowing’ or ‘Heaven or Hell await us when we die’, was this information derived from direct interaction with the physical world or from language alone? If I remove language I can still point to my face, I can still point to a tree, but I am unable to point to God or even the the terms used to define God’s attributes (e.g., Omniscient, Omnipotent). In other words, God is defined by terms that exist themselves only by way of definition, as mental constructs, and not as anything mensurable in the real world. God, therefore, is only a word and literally ‘defined’ into existence. Where can God be found outside of language (or Heaven, or Hell, or Angels, or the Soul, or Life-After-Death)?

Saying ‘God is all-knowing’ is as meaningful, therefore, as saying ‘Galfaloon is Omni-Spritely’ since in both cases the subject and object rely on interior definitions alone to be known (i.e., neither ‘God’ nor ‘all-knowing’ or ‘Galfaloon’ nor ‘Omni-Spritely’ are found anywhere outside of abstract language). What an ingenious trap! Using subsets of artificial terms to argue the character of other artificial terms (akin, perhaps, to molding an idol out of clay and giving it made-up attributes then calling the idol a representation of God and its attributes God’s attributes).

This is the counterfeit nature of language, since all subjects and objects rely on artificial subsets for definition.

Language, therefore, is an imaginary patterning system we use to point to-

and-from ourselves, each other, other things in the universe, and things that exist only in the mind as subsets of language. It makes no difference whether we’re talking/writing about Creationism (”Intelligent Design”) or Evolution (”Darwinism”), since the language involved in both cases is part of the same imaginary patterning system. The arguments used to defend Creationism and the arguments used to defend Evolution both consist of words that do not exist in the real world. Words are not natural. Words are symbolic components used in the imaginary patterning system and symbolic components do not exist . Words are not real.

The important issue here isn’t whether someone is arguing from a religious point-of-view or a scientific point-of-view, a liberal point-a-view or a conservative point-a-view, a Christian point-of-view or an atheist point-of-view, but that irrespective of the words chosen the world simply exists, untouched and unchanged by the discussion.

A hundred billion words exchanged will never make a scientific theory into physical reality nor will it produce a spirit, a miracle, an angel, or life-after-death. The world, the universe, all the various things that make up the universe simply are, while language is an imaginary patterning system we lay over things to interpret them and invest them with meaning (although ‘meaning’ is purely conceptual and does not exist in the real world).

When we imagine the world to be one way or the other—e.g., whether natural or supernatural—it’s as if we are looking through language and symbols to see the world, then mistake our language and symbols to be the world. Language and symbols are not the world. The world precedes all language and symbols. The world simply is.

You make some very interesting points here. I think the problem lies with the weakness of language.  Only through faith can language take on new deeper meanings that can’t be explained to or understood by non-believers.

I don’t believe in God Haven’t for 16 years, I do believe in the power of faith, I am not amoral, my belief is as true as your own. Not all atheist hate God(Gods), truth be told the rejection of God(Gods) is simply the conclusion of empirical rationalization. All superstructures of any modern or past civilizations are built on cultural beliefs stemming from a hope to understand reality. I sincerely hope you do not truly believe that Atheism is out to destroy America, nothing good comes from discrimination.

WOW! What I’ve learned is that They’re all so angry, sarcastic, and venomous in their attacks on religion….particularly Christianity.

There is no sweet spirit to be found in them. I’ve tried to find an anti-atheist t shirt to wear when he wears his anti-God shirts, but did you know you can’t find them on the web. Anti-God, anti Christian stuff is everywhere to be purchased …. and yet the they complain about how the atheist are discriminated against,blah, blah, blah etc.

Well boo hoo. I’ve read enough of their whiny, self centered rants. I will certainly not encourage or accept such a negative force in our family. Doesn’t the scriptures say that the gospel is “foolishness” to those who don’t believe? and that “the FOOL says in his heart that there is no God” so thousands of years ago, the writers of scripture were inspired to prepare believers that the unbelief would be in the world. And isn’t Satan “the prince” of this world anyway? I think atheist are perhaps just part of his army…doing his work.

The reason why Atheists are so pissed off all of the time is because they are jealous of the relationship we have with Jesus Christ.

If these people were complete inside themselves then they’d just accept religion as the positive force for good both you and I know it is.

I recently read a copy of Ray Comfort’s introduction to ‘The Origin Of Species’ and was amazed by how convincing his arguments against Darwinism are.

The real reason why Atheists are so up-in-arms about the inclusion of Comfort’s tour-de-force is because of the how truly coherent and legitimate the arguments are, not because it’s somehow disrespectful to Darwin.

This is why I think that all current publications of ‘The Origin Of Species’ should be banned out right by the government and replaced with editions containing Comfort’s commentary.

The truth is that you can’t understand Darwin’s book in it’s proper context without first sampling what Comfort has to say.

Reading the book alone is the equivalent of eating a sandwich containing no-filling. It’s pointless and unfulfilling and if you’re not careful you’ll choke to death on the nasty rotten crust towards the end.

Ray Comfort happily provides us with the insight to interpret it the way it should be interpreted.

If you’re Christian and at all concerned about the truth, please write to your local political representative and petition for the original ‘The Origin Of The Species’ to be banned outright.

Without Comfort’s opening it’s as dangerous (and as readily-available) as crack cocaine in the ghetto-slums.

In Chambersburg, PA the PA Nonbelievers Inc (PAN) have started early on their neverending war against Christmas by attempting to stage a counter-protest against the annual nativity scene that is displayed by the fountain in the town square.

Now the nativity scene is to be removed as town hall can’t allow both the nativity scene or the counter-protest to remain due to legal threats against the County.

These assholes state that they aren’t there to attack Christmas, rather they want to praise Atheist Veterans and the spirit of secularism.

What utter drivel and cowardice! Can’t these communists for once just admit that they are there to try to desecrate the memory of Christ?

Surely if the Atheists concerned about peace as they often claim they are, they’d take their protest elsewhere.

Here’s an idea, why not let good hard-working American Christians give praise to their God without fear of being persecuted.

What they don’t understand is how much the holiday season means to believers. It’s a time for families to get together and put aside their differences.

These Atheists, who are usually single and live in their mother’s basements are envious about this and just want to strip away the meaning of Christmas until everything’s meaningless.

I’ve encountered many Atheists in my time who have mercilessly torn apart the world of humble Christians who were simply out to preach the Word of God and not start a fight.

I’d like to tell you a story about one such incident that left me reeling for quite some time.

I used to work on the streets with this old widow called Margaret and we’d hand out cups of coffee to drunken revelers as they left the bar.

This one young man came out of the tavern, walked past Margaret and as he did, she kindly handed him a pamphlet about God.

What followed has haunted me for quite some time.

It turns out that the guy was an Atheist who lived on the same block in downtown Madison many years back.

He’d heard about the passing of Margaret’s husband just recently and began mocking her with cruel comments.

‘Marge! There’s no such thing as God. Your husbands gone forever! He’s dead as a f***** door nail. You’ll never see him ever again!”

As he said this Margaret dropped the cup of coffee she was holding, looked to the ground and became inconsolable.

Far from coming to her aid, the Atheist continued his cruel taunts, dancing around like a chimp on heat, grimacing with a depraved sex face that only a bad ape could muster.

‘God doesn’t care because He’s not there. Face it you’re alone now and you’ll be alone forever. It couldn’t have happened to a nicer person, Marge!’

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse, the Atheist dropped his pants and wavered his buttocks over Margaret’s head like two ungodly hoods of flesh.

He then blasted out a superhuman emission that just sent shivers down my spine.

We stood there shellshocked by what had just happened. The smell of the fart didn’t even effect us that much as we were so focused on trying to make sense of it all.

Marge died soon after that. We don’t know if it was the grief of losing her husband so early, the cruel taunts of the Atheist or worse of all – his gaseous ‘revelation’ that cost Marge her life.

Maybe it was a combination of all three.

If you’ve tried witnessing to Atheists in the past, you’ll know that they are often equipped with encyclopedic knowledge of all of the atrocities and massacres that so-called Christians perpetuated over the years.

The Inquisition, The Crusades and Northern Ireland are 3 examples that come up time after time.

You’ll rarely see a Christian who has a balanced outlook on religion. He is drawn to the negatives like a bug towards shit, yet he’s perceived as the rational one!

Most Atheists are too proud to concede that religion serves any purpose at all other than to warp the minds of the young and to influence terrorist attacks.

What a bunch of garbage!

Atheists have a dark history too. Look at early 20th century Russia. The Cambodian Killing fields. Secularists advocating the mass slaughter of unborn Children.

All of these can be used against the Atheist but as Christians we’re more mature than that. We know that no-one is perfect.

We also understand that rationality and impartiality are two virtues that should be put to use whenever we’ve trying to come to a consensus on something important.

We can see that whilst Atheism has been responsible for some of the worst atrocities on the planet, that it has merits too.

It’s just a pity Secularists don’t have the capacity to be so open minded.

It’s a pity Secularists don’t have the capacity to be truly compassionate either.
