Also, you might want to avoid the “I’m smart, so you might want to listen to me” or the “I’m smart, so what I say is right” arguments, as some people are smart themselves, don’t care (which is almost always the case), will label you as an elitist, and/or will think that you have no more points.

I’m pretty sure that this guy is being satirical… Stop falling into the trap. You’re making all atheists look bad and you’re reinforcing the “dull” portrayal…

And to “the idiot”, I wouldn’t respond to you if you hadn’t have given your age, but seeing as how you have, I am. Mr. Marx tells his subjects to be atheistic, but that doesn’t imply that atheists are communists… I have never heard the generalization that atheists are communists.

There exists no proof of a god’s nonexistence, but there does a proof that no proof can be given for either his existence nor nonexistence–hence circular argument. Your belief–and it’s likely you’re going to reject the following fact without thinking or research–is based on faith, much the same way belief in God is. You can be an atheist, surely, but you cannot bash theists for their faith, for there exists dogma on both sides.

This is just amazing. This article has an insanely high level of failoscity that it’s not even funny. As the guys (or girls) have said above, the last two don’t make sense, the first does not apply to anyone who doesn’t have any pets, the second is illegal in most countries (including your home county of the great USA), and the third, well, almost everyone does it. Don’t say that I, or any other atheists, use the same arguments every time. Notice how you can replace “atheists” with “Christians” and “against God” with “for God”. Don’t tell me I’m ignorant or blinded. I am currently about 12 and a half, and my IQ is over 150, which it probably much higher than yours at age 56. Seriously, I hope this is satire.

I am a godless atheist, and even though you intend it as an insult I take it as a compliment. I believe that nobody can know what happens beyond the grave and nobody who wasn’t there can tell you what happened. I believe that nobody knows the ultimate answers and anyone who claims to know is wrong. I also cannot begin to understand blind faith as a virtue. In any other area of life we look for at least some proof. In religion all the proof you have is prayer “results” where anything that goes well is accredited to god’s help regardless of what actually caused it, and an old book of stories that was passed down and embellished for generations before it ever was written down. In any other area of life we would never accept this as proof. Why is religion the exception? Because we as humans find it easier to believe a fantastical explanation, than to accept the fact that there is no way to know for sure what happens after death.

I am godless because I freed myself from the restrictive straightjacket of religion. Religion is good mixed with bad. I still believe things like stealing, murder, and adultery are wrong. I have morals like those described in the bible. I am good to my fellow man and follow the golden rule. I do not, however, pay attention to rules such as Leviticus 24:16, Leviticus 25:44-45, Deuteronomy 25:5, and other crazy rules listed in the Bible. The Bible contains many rules which are still “on the books” but not followed by even the most devout. Can you honestly tell me that if you married a woman and then you died before the two of you had any children, that she should marry your brother? I think not.

The only 2 differences in the way I follow laws and the way Christians follow laws are as follows:

1. I do not follow any rules dictating the worship of a god, homage to god, participation or acceptance of slavery, or demanding the death of those that believe differently than I do. According to the Bible, Christians do.

2. I follow laws based on what I believe to be right and for no other reason than that. Christians follow the rules and laws of the Bible based on fear of hellfire and damnation. In most cases the fear is in addition to a feeling of moral right or wrong, but not always. The end result of both is the same. non-Christians and Christians can both choose whether or not to obey the laws given to them, but only non Christians can do so based only on what is right, and not because of fear.

Finally let me say that the assertion made by Christians that “God-Fearing Person” is interchangeable with “Good Person” is untrue. There are good and bad atheists. There are good and bad god fearing Christians.

You can be GOOD without GOD

You claim to be open minded. I am open minded, however any religious person by definition, cannot be. To be a true believer in any religion you must believe whole heartedly everything in your Bible, Koran, Torah, etc. Since Christianity and most other religions condemn all ideas which contradict them, you are either open to opposing ideas or you are Christian. It is impossible to truly be both.

I know a hard-headed idiot like you would understand. We just won’t accept the truth. Let us ignore the truth so we can make our own decisions. You can’t convince me that any of my dead pets are in heaven, or that heaven is real, or hell, because you can only use circular logic to convince me. Dunking me into a tub of water and bribing me aren’t going to justify that all of your arguments that god exists are based on the logic that god does exist, rendering all of your arguments, circular as they are, useless against me. I’m not stupid. I’m only 13 and my IQ is above 140 (the average adult is 125). Oh, but thanks for trying, it’s fun to try to find an argument that doesn’t find its roots in that god does exist. I am also not a communist, though communism in a perfect world is much better than capitalism, because with capitalism there cannot be a perfect world, for there will always be poor people. As an ex-Christian (Boo-Yah!), I have had the intelligence to figure out that there is no god. Pray to the milk jug.

One more thing. How can an argument truly be an argument if there is just one chance to state your point and no chance to do a rebuttal? I would prefer you didn’t put one of your stupid pictures in the middle of my argument, too.

This, honestly, is sad. This is incredibly truly and epically sad. It makes total sense that you don’t explain how to convert an atheist through simply stating how your religion works and how it could make them a better happier person, because frankly, it can’t, because how do you tell someone that by waking up early every sunday, dressing up, and listen to a man behind a podium threaten you for 5 hours for being human wouldn’t convert anybody huh? so instead you resort to this.. your whole conversion technique is based on not “why you should” but “what happens if you don’t” because you guys KNOW from an atheist point of view all of your logic sounds like total bull shit. Shame on you, it’s amazing how the people who think they are the most moral and riteous can really be the most evil… geeze maybe one day humans will actually stop fearing and start loving instead…
