There Is No Difference Between Antitheism, Atheism Or Agnosticism For That Matter

Hitchens just won’t stop. He keeps blathering on about how he’s an antitheist rather than an atheist, explaining that the difference is that he doesn’t wish that there is a God, whilst most Atheists generally do.

Well, duh Hitchens, there IS a God, which makes your pointless ‘distinction’ irrelevant. Irrelevant like ‘God Is Not Great’ which reads worse than reading Paris Hilton’s biography turned upside down, whilst sitting on a washing machine stark naked.

Antitheists are immature. They are like children hiding behind the sofa refusing to acknowledge the existence of their loving parent, just because they’ve scolded them after warning them about the dangers of inserting penny coins into their anus (which is obviously a sure sign of latent homosexuality).

Christ, I wish Atheists would spent more time learning how to read and wright and less time, deliberately mocking Jesus because ‘it’s the in thing to do’. Get a life! Get a God! You’re intellect is obviously so meagre that you don’t know any better than to insult you’re Almighty Ruler Of Heaven and Earth.

Anyway, there’s absolutely no point in classifying these heretics at all. Christians should simply refer to Atheists, Agnostics, Anti Theist’s and Communist’s as baby kicking God haters.

While I’ve never heard of the author or the guy he is lambasting against, I do agree that worrying about other people’s business is bad. Both the author and his victim are guilty of this. It is tough not to fall into that trap – I understand completely.

However, insinuating that any one group of people cannot read or wriTe is a tad ridiculous. It is probably that atheists read a more varied library than theists do. Also the lack of biblical questions concerning simple material among Christians is staggering. For example: At the wedding party when Jesus turns water to wine – why is the bible silent about the names of the couple who are being married? In ancient history, the name of the wedding party is the primary mode of recording history. To say it is anything but an informed decision is to be naive or to call the authors incompetant. The real question is, why is this, and hundreds of more facts like it, ignored by today’s modern Christian? Why is Ezekiel 18:13 ignored? I am losing everything I have worked so hard for because modern Christians cannot be bothered to STEP FORWARD AGAINST USURY. My biggest complaint is that you have very little knowledge of your own history but have no problem making other people pay for your mistakes.

I am back again. I am really serious about what I said before. Christians could change the world. All I am asking is that you follow the bible. I see SO MANY PEOPLE mobilizing for causing that are AGAINST freedom & liberty…but I do not see ANY CHRISTIANS WHATSOEVER mobilizing for what is said in Ezekiel 18:13 straight from God’s mouth – USURY IS A SIN and is PROHIBITED.

Please, Christians, I am begging you – stop allowing yourselves to be used as a political stick and actually stand up for what you claim to be representing. Jesus Christ gets physically aggressive only once in the bible – to remove the money changers (international bankers) from the Temple. Now these same money changers are in charge of the Federal Reserve Bank of America (Which is NOT a government entity, if you look it up, it is privately owned and operated) and you ignore it. Usury is EVIL and we are becoming SLAVES to people who are, believe me, NOT Christians. Worse yet…Your inaction against this injustice is causing ME harm!

Please Christians – you are the only group in America who can STOP usury and save our country, our liberty!

Please let me respect you again!

My father was a Christian and he used to enjoy sticking his fingers into my anus. I didn’t find it particularly funny and I don’t think it’s appropriate for a Christian to talk about sodomy like that. Yes, my father liked to do that too.

1- Most atheist just don’t believe in a god, very few even wish there wasn’t one. Don’t claim you know more about certain people than they do themselves.

2- You can’t just say there is a god and expect not to be asked for proof of your extraordinary claim. BTW, the bible is not proof (there are other holy books) and the world being complicated is not proof either

3- You clearly don’t understand what an atheist is. an atheist does not believe that gods even exist so to claim they are like children refusing to acknowledge their parents existence is pure ignorance.

4- There are homosexual christians, why bring up homosexuality as if its an atheistic thing?

5- As atheist, we don’t see an almighty ruler who kills innocent children and demands to be worshipped without question. What we see is a primitive idea tha falls apart if you look at its many flaws.

6- Atheism and communism are not related, thats an old stereotype

7- How can someone hate god when god is nothing but an idea? If anything, we only hate the ones who use the idea of god to justify the injustice they try to bring upon others.

Almost every skeptic has given bible-god a chance. It’s only after giving the matter extensive time in terms of both research and thought, that they decided it was all a load of malarkey. A few others were just lucky enough to grow up in environments where your angry eye-in-the-sky was never an issue worth dwelling on.

Ask yourself: what is the probability of there actually being a monsterously sadistic god who creates fragile ants in such a way that they are doomed to disappoint him and then torments them for all eternity?

Even if such vile deity existed and you found yourself before him, would he not deserve a spit in the face in the same way that Hitler would?

Non-believers don’t arrive at their conclusion about God causally; after all who wouldn’t like a father figure with superpowers to help them when life gets tough. Or, a wonderful place called heaven to escape the scariness of death. It is also much easier to just say God did it then to really understand things like biochemistry and evolution. But, when you actually study religion you find that our early religious traditions started back in primitive times when animal and human sacrifices to the gods were considered a good thing. People also thought the Sun was a god, and that it orbited the Earth. Religion started way before the Bible or Jesus appeared, so it has little to do with them. To understand why people originally believed in gods you have to go way back to early man as he evolved to a more self-aware state.

Scientist believe while we were starting to evolve beyond mere instinctual behaviors, we initially had little in the way of a rational understanding of the world. We did not understand much of anything and our emotions likely outweighed rational thinking as it does in animals today. Yet we could start to make-up explanations. We also had dreams and imagination entering the picture. Dreams likely appeared to be a real “spirit like” existence to early mankind.

We started creating gods out of important things that we did not understand like the sun. We gave our gods human-like attributes as that is how we understood the world. As we evolved so did our gods. Gods became symbolic vessels of our evolving level of morality and a means of enforcing it. Structured religions and gods that could intimidate or reward us help keep us in order as religions became a form of governing. And, you could get killed if you didn’t believe! This structure religion provided helped us successfully develop larger social groups like towns, cities, and then empires. It also helped our brains from overloading in fear and ignorance. Religions were taught as absolute truths to children by their authority figures and most everyone believed. The world was complicated and we did not have the tools to understand complex things. To primitive man it all had to seem magical. And we created hundreds of gods and religions, and practically every country had their patron god.

Judaism was a successful upgrade from many gods to monotheism and the Old testament is a combination of folklore, history, myths and laws. Jesus was a further upgrade as we can better relate to a human form of God. He also gave us a second chance, which was very appealing as we all screw-up at some point in our life. It is likely that he was a great man who was transformed into a God as Christianity started getting organized and they wrote and embellished his life’s story to compete with the other religions of that day. In fact, there were originally several different groups following Jesus’ teachings after he died; they ranged in beliefs from him as a mere mortal to an actual god.

All the good stuff Jesus taught was taught previously by earlier religious sages, but Christianity packaged it all together in a very compelling manner. Read bible scholar Karen Armstrong’s book “The Great Transformation” for a good overview of this fact that Jesus taught nothing original. Another Bible scholar named Burton L. Mack has several books that deal with the variety of early Christian groups. Christianity came together as we now know it when Emperor Constantine adopted it as the official religion of the empire and asked the clergy to put together the official Christian Holy book. Old stories were collected and new ones written and committees decided what would go into the Bible as the official word of God. It took over two hundred years for the official version of Christianity to evolve. What is really amazing is that we don’t even know who wrote most of the Bible including the Gospels of Mark, Matthew, Luke and John. Even the New American Bible says their authorship is unknown. Paul’s writings are some that scholars believe were by him and he claims to never have met Jesus. In many ways he is the father of Christianity. The early church decided to have Christmas and Easter on dates of Pagan holidays to make the religion more appealing. No serious Bible scholar believes Jesus was born on Dec. 25th Some Christian sects still teach that Moses wrote the first 5 books of the OT, yet most Christians, including the Vatican don’t believe this any more because some of those books talk about what happened after Moses died.

If you study the Bible and look at it objectively it is hard to find much of it divine. There is nothing in the Bible that is beyond the knowledge of man at that time. And much of it is wrong, like the sun orbiting the Earth, age of the Earth, etc. Look at a site like http://nobeliefs.com to see the other side of the argument about the validity of the Bible. The Bible also has an alarmingly high number of immoral guidelines, like to kill non-believers, gays and children who misbehave. For examples see Deuteronomy 13:6, Leviticus 20:13 Exodus 21:15 Matthew 10:21, 5:17. People tend to just cherry pick the good advice, and it takes complicated interpretations to figure out some of the good stuff. Fundamentalist Christians still argue for the literal word of the Bible, because they see that once you undermined some of its holy facts, the whole house of cards comes tumbling down. For example, some Christians still argue the sun orbits the earth – see Geocentricity.com. To take the Bible literally is hard for many. It must have been hard to fit all the dinosaurs on Noah’s ark and clean up after them. And then Noah’s family had to mate with each other to carry on the human race, just as Adam and Eve’s children had to sleep with each other or their parents to have children. A non-believer finds that very hard to accept. And if you don’t believe in the Bible, then you are just making-up your version of Christianity. Just think about the fact that Jesus spent a lot of his time chasing evil demons out of possessed people. In one story in Mark’s gospel he chases demons out of people and into pigs, and then has the pigs jump off a cliff into the ocean and drown, apparently taking the evil spirits with them. Many Christians still believe they can be haunted by actual demons that are fallen angels. Non-believers not only find this hard to accept, but both scary and amusing.

Human emotions and egos allow us to believe in anything from Astrology to Zeus to create a reality we can feel more comfortable in. Christians believe Muslims are delusional about Muhammad being inspired by the Angel Gabriel to write the Koran. They also think Hindus and Buddhists are following false religions. In fact, most religions think the other religions are delusional in their beliefs. The non-believer simply concludes the most likely reality is that they are all wrong, since people can believe strongly in whatever they want. Strong beliefs are not a proof of anything as we all think we are right. Heck, people could justify burning people to death alive because they believed them to be witches. So beliefs can be strong and overwhelming while still being dead wrong. People can also have amazing mental experiences, but that is not evidence of a God – it’s just an amazing mental experience. I have actually had out of body experiences while meditating to fall asleep, very cool, but not at all evidence of God.

Fortunately, the scientific method evolved to rely on more then belief and superstitions. It relies on repeatable evidence that anyone can see. Like the fossil record that shows only simple one cell critters 3.5 billion years ago. Then progressively the fossil record shows the complexity of life getting greater over time. So one can conclude life evolves from simple to more complex forms. Or, that God likes to play jokes on us. DNA and mutations are how life can change/evolve. It also seems plausible that a beneficial change will have a better chance to survive and be passed along. The current variety of life also shows the progression from simple chemicals called prions (a type of protein), some of which can self-replicate and cause infectious diseases like Mad Cow, to viruses that need a host cell’s DNA to reproduce, to one cell, two cell, 100 cell, 1000000 cell, to more complex life forms. It takes nature a fraction of a second to make complex beautiful hexagonal snowflakes from simple H2O molecules, think of what can happen over 14 billion years when you use all 92 natural elements on the ~1000000000000000000000000 planets which are believed to exist in this universe. That one planet forms a complex chemistry called life is not that amazing. Especially if you study organic chemistry and learn how amazing the carbon molecule is in its bonding capabilities, and, you have test tubes the size of oceans. If it all seems too complicate that is because we are not that smart yet; heck, the Vatican did not officially recognize that Copernicus was right about the Earth orbiting the Sun until 1992.

So you say – how about the big questions like where did it all come from? Modern cosmology does not say the universe has a beginning. It says this stage of the universe came from a big bang, but this does not mean there was nothing before the bang. In fact, the April 2008 issue of Discover has 3 theories of what may have preceded the big bang. Where does mother nature (i.e. matter/energy) come from – the answer is most likely the same place as God.

Where does anything in the natural world come from? As best we know you cannot create something from nothing. The energy/matter in the universe does not just appear and disappear, it is conserved. But it does like to keep changing forms. So where did you, a tree or a star come from? The answer is matter/energy rearranging itself based upon the 4 forces of nature.

I’m sorry, but Google “absurdities in the Bible” and you’ll find enough to realize that the book is skewed, extremely cruel, inaccurate and self-contradictory. It’s also insultingly pretentious and bad history. Divine? Anybody who thinks that’s the word of God is a simpleton. Look for Him elsewhere, like in a bird’s feather or a water droplet. Back when I was doing heavy LSD I saw Him all over the place. Not to mention a demon or two.

Here’s why the prophecies came true. First recall the fact that we know next to nothing about the biblical Jesus. For example, he was born and then disappeared until his 30th year. Strange isn’t it? Very suspicious, IMHO.

What all this means is that the biblical Jesus was stripped of all biographical detail so that he could be folded back neatly into the prophecies. (However, biblical scholars show how even this was screwed up by the people who wrote the gospels.)

The bible is the longest running troll in western history.

Sorry, believers. You have been suckered.

speaking of homosexual why do you have a picture of a half naked man getting his legs waxed?

i agree with Bec this is perfect for anti-theists keep it coming the more evidence of lunacy we can find the stronger our position can be.

i also agree with hunter most believers still think that there were 2 of each type on the ark (actually 14 or 9 depending on kosherness) or that jesus was born on december 25th (actually late may)

the only main flaw in evolution theory is that people like you haven’t yet drowned in a puddle of your own drool

in all seriousness the anti-theists and atheists in this blog are doing the wrong thing. we are laughing at the others but we do nothing we need to form together and actually change the world and get rid of idiocy like this
